Redbrix is an easy-to-use, web-based MySQL data input and manipulation application, specifically aimed at end users.
Its purpose is to allow a systems administrator or web developer to deploy an easy-to-use but powerful data input and querying application in as little time as possible, bypassing the need to create a bespoke application for each database.
A ready-to-use Redbrix installation can be configured in as little as a few minutes.
Redbrix adapts to the databases with which it is specified to interact. It displays field data and generates input form fields dependent on the defined data type of each field (e.g. foreign key fields and ENUM types are displayed as drop-down lists, while boolean fields show as checkboxes, etc.)
In order to provide security, auditing and record-locking, Redbrix inserts a set of system tables into each database you specify in the initial Redbrix configuration wizard. These do not link to any existing tables at all and may safely be removed if you choose to uninstall Redbrix.
Redbrix has no specific hardware requirements but it does require that the following software be installed on the web server:
- Apache 1.3.14 or higher
- PHP 4.0 or higher
- MySQL 4.0 or higher
